Dear Mum & Dad,

Next Wendnesday, November 29th our senior school is performing the play  “Freddy’s First Day”. We will be performing it twice once for the junior school and once for the parents and family members at 5pm, which you are more than welcome to attend. The play is about a young boy named Freddy. It is his first day at school, it also shows what his family might be feeling, in a humorous way. My role in the play in to hold up card for the audience, even though I don’t speak I would really appreciate it if you came to see all the hard work that the senior school has done, I think you would like some of the jokes that are in the play as Mr Adams has aimed most of the jokes at the parents. Thank you for reading my letter, I hope that you consider coming after reading this.

Yours truly,

Holly

Kapa Haka

On Thursday the 31 of  August the kapa haka group at New Brighton Catholic School went to Mairehau High School. We were greeted with a loud and amazing performance by the kapa haka group at Mairehau. We watched  about 8 amazing groups perform, before we had to get up on stage and perform we had a small 20 minute break. I was so scared but overall I think that we were amazing and were quite loud which was good because we were the smallest group with only 24 people in our group others had all most 70 people in a group. Overall I had a great time and it was cool seeing other people perform

Second language.

Kia ora, Bonjour I am a student at New Brighton Catholic School. I am here to say way we should have a second language as a subject.

We would learn the culture. It would be good to learn about the culture if you wanted to someday go to that country. You will also know a bit about the the country as well.

We would make someone feel more welcome. For example what if we had a French intern, it would be amazing if we could speak their language and make them feel more welcome. Also it might be helpful for them. When you go to another country you might be able to have a conversation with a person. That would make you feel more welcome and happy inside which is good for your mental wellbeing.

If you go to another country, you would be able to know a bit about the language. So that you are aware of what other people are saying so that you don't get confused. Also so you know what you are ordering or where you are going.

So in conclusion I think that if we had a second language we would learn the culture, make someone feel more welcome and it would be helpful when travelling so let's make it happen.

Say yes to class captain

Hello my fello classmates I am here to say we should have a class captain.

Are you having trouble with maths, reading or writing? Our class captain will be able to help us with maths, reading and writing so that we as a class can be better, He or she can be able to help us with athletics by encouraging us to do our best. Our class captain will help us with many things.

Our class captain will be encouraging and including. They would do their best to make sure that we aare doing something that everyone might enjoy so that they might join in. Also our class captain will be encouraging by being positive and helpful so that people don't get mad at themselves or others.

A class captain can be our voice by talking to the staff about having different learning experiences like maybe doing a kahoot for one and a debate for writing.

So in conclusion I know that our class captain needs to and will help us with each subject, be encouraging and can be our voice so let's make a change
